Pastoral Staff

Richard Neusch

Senior Pastor

Richard and Sylvia met as students at Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in Fort Worth, Texas. They were married in 1981 and left that same year to accept their first pastorate. Richard and Sylvia pastored churches in Washington State for nine years, and their two children, Adrienne and Jared, were born in Richland, Washington.

Hungry for more of the Holy Spirit, Richard and Sylvia left their denomination in 1990 and moved to Austin, Texas – Richard's home town – to become part of a church where the Holy Spirit was moving in a powerful way. This began a difficult 10 year "desert" training time for Richard and Sylvia where God began removing old mindsets and replacing them with His heart and plan for their lives. They came to value character over gifting, heart transformation over outward performance, and intimacy with Jesus as foundational to their ministry. The grace and compassion of the Father's heart is a common thread that runs throughout the ministries of their church. They each have a deep desire to see God's Kingdom established here on earth as it is in heaven.

True Life Fellowship was birthed in 2005 and is a reflection of the many things that God has poured into the hearts of Richard and Sylvia.

As Senior Pastor, Richard oversees the Elders and staff, and closely works with the Men's Ministry and the Transformation Ministry. Richard is a gifted speaker and has the ability to make the truths of God's word applicable and practical for everyday life. His strong pastoral gifting causes people to feel loved and encouraged.

Sarah Morales

Worship Pastor

Sarah was born and raised in New York City. Her parents were pastors and she grew up with a very real, intimate relationship with the Holy Spirit. When it was time for college, Sarah attended Hillsong International Leadership College. Her experience and education there changed her life forever and thrust her into the middle of God's heart for His people.

After graduation in 2004, she took the role of Worship and Creative Arts Pastor at her father's church in Miami. For most of her life, she has traveled around the country and the world singing, leading worship for various conferences and ministries but through it all desired someone to love and do life and ministry with.

She met her husband Alex, who also was born and raised in New York City, and was a pastor with a very impacting ministry to teens and young adults. They married in 2008 and have two awesome little boys, Jude and Elijah.

Sarah joined the True Life staff in March of 2013. Together with her husband and her great team, she is ready to see the earth transformed to Heaven’s likeness. Her heart's desire is to see people step into their true identity in Christ and worship from a place of truth, as they declare and release the heart of God over Round Rock, Austin, the region and the nations.

Nicholas Sowell

Associate & Young Adults Pastor

Nicholas & Melanie Sowell are the Young Adults Pastors at True Life Fellowship. Nicholas gave his life to the Lord at an early age, God called him into ministry by sixteen. He became a lay minister in his local church, and through it, got a passion for preaching. His senior year in high school, God led him into Christian radio which led to an even greater passion to move through music. By nineteen, Nicholas felt God leading him into full time high school youth ministry. Upon graduating college with a degree in theology, Nicholas had grad school on his mind, but the Lord had other plans. Using Nicholas’ passion for surfing, God placed him in a “surf missions” organization that catered to the “10-40 Window.” It was through surf missions that God gave Nicholas a heart for the world and people outside of the U.S.

After finishing surf missions in Indonesia and Nicaragua, Nicholas felt God calling him to Bethel Church in Redding, California. With a yearning to be equipped and learn more about the miracles God was doing, he sold most of what he had and moved sight unseen.

Weeks after moving to Redding, Nicholas met his wife, Melanie. After just under a year of dating and engagement, the newlyweds decided to pray about where God wanted them to minister. After some divine direction and a couple of prophetic words, Nicholas and Melanie Sowell knew God was calling them to Austin, TX. This would be their God given “promised land” to build a family, accomplish their dreams and set roots. Now leading as True Life’s Young Adult Pastors together, they have a huge heart for restoring families, relationships, and people. They long to see sex trafficking abolished and marriages restored.  Nicholas and Melanie are expecting their first child in September 2014.

Mikaela Cain

Childrens Pastor
Mikaela and Grant Cain are the Children’s Pastors. Mikaela felt called to work with street children and orphans when she was nine-years-old. She worked with orphans in Romania in 2006, after graduating high school. Her heart for ministering to children of all family statuses grew after she came home.

Mikaela attended Southwestern University pursuing a degree in Communications Studies. There, she met Grant and they started dating in 2009. Grant graduated with a double major in Communication Studies and Psychology. They both attended Bethel School of Supernatural Ministry in Redding, CA, after graduating. There, Mikaela participated in and led a Side Walk Sunday School program for two years in a low-income neighborhood.

Grant and Mikaela got married in 2012. During their first year of marriage, they felt the Lord calling them to move to back to Texas to be a part of the revival here.

Mikaela is also a part-time freelance writer for two magazines. Grant is a seventh grade English teacher and True Life’s interim middle school youth pastor. The Cains value ministering in a culture of honor and developing and mentoring others. They both have a heart to see reconciliation in families, church communities and cities.
