Dreams That Seem Impossible
“Blessed is the man who trusts in the Lord, And whose hope is the Lord. For he shall be like a tree planted by the waters, Which spreads out its roots by the river, And will not fear when heat comes; But its leaf will be green, And will not be anxious in the year of drought, or will cease from yielding fruit.” Jeremiah 17:7,8
In 2010, I was sitting in a special service in Sebring, FL and was called out of the congregation by a travelling minister. He told me, “You are going to go to a 9-month ministry school that is going to raise you up in the prophetic.” Around that time, someone, who knew nothing of that prophetic word offered to give me $5,000 to attend Bethel in Redding, CA. Not long after, I was at Bethel and graduated First Year 9 months later. That word was fulfilled quickly, within months. However, I still have words spoken over me years ago, words I believe are from God and yet they do not seem possible at the moment
Have you ever had a word spoken over your life that seemed impossible, yet amazing? Do you have a dream in your heart that seems too big to ever accomplish? Then you’re in good company.
Jesus’ mother, Mary received a word from an actual angel that she was going to give birth to the Son of God and her reaction was very human, “How can this be?” It was impossible for her to conceive a child, because she was a virgin. BUT GOD.
Joseph had a dream that he would be a ruler. His dream seemed impossible. He was sold into slavery. What did he do? He decided to thrive. He was falsely accused and thrown in prison. What did he do there? He decided to thrive. His dream still looked impossible. BUT GOD.
Abraham and Sarah had a word from God that they would have a son. It was impossible. They were too old to conceive. They tried to fulfill it apart from God and Ishmael was born. BUT GOD.
David was anointed king, yet King Saul wanted to kill him. He was chased down by the very person he was supposed to replace. He didn’t try and accomplish the word apart from God. He chose honor. It looked impossible. BUT GOD.
I have dreams that He has placed in my heart, prophetic words that have been spoken over my life, ideas that I would love to see happen and yet they seem impossible. You see my point here. The prophetic words over our lives and our God dreams may feel impossible, because they ARE impossible without Him.
If you are like me and have ever felt like your destiny was beyond your reach, here are some things that encourage me in my journey:
Dreams and prophetic words are never meant to be something that burden us, but instead an invitation into deeper relationship with Him. He never intended us to fulfill prophecies outside of relationship with Him.Instead, they are a love letter from Heaven, an invitation into deeper intimacy with Him, an invitation into a deeper partnership. They are a reminder of how Heaven sees us.
Get back to the basics. One thing I have realized in life is that you can never go wrong, when you choose to lean into God. Time spent soaking and loving on God is always time well spent. It is actually an investment in our destiny, because He is our ultimate calling and destiny.
Thrive where you are planted and be the best you can be right now. I look back over my life and realize that God certainly doesn’t waste any time. Even in the moments I thought were a waste, in the moments I thought didn’t count, those moments were important. They were moments where my roots went deep. Look at your life today and if it isn’t what you want it to be, don’t throw it by the wayside. This season is preparation for the next. Glean from it. Squeeze every drop out of it. Let your roots go deep, even if it hurts, even if no one sees, even if it seems worthless. Let the moments of pain take you deeper.
Trust in the goodness of our Father. He hasn’t breathed our lives into existence and then left us. He isn’t an absentee Father. He is the God of the impossible. He is a perfect Father. He is the Father that loves to discuss, encourage, and offer guidance. He is a God that loves to discover along with us what is in our hearts, and show us the pathway to get there. At times when I don’t know what the next step is to take, that is when I recalibrate and consciously choose to trust Him.
Have people in your life that remind you of who you are. When life gets mundane, when hopelessness sets in, allow them to remind you of the promises of God over your life. There is something so refreshingly life giving when someone who knows you, including all your junk reminds you that you were born for greatness.
