Making Ready

A voice of one is calling out,

“Clear the way for the Lord in the wilderness [remove the obstacles];Make straight and smooth in the desert a highway for our God“Every valley shall be raised,

And every mountain and hill be made low;

And let the rough ground become a plain,

And the rugged places a broad valley.

“And the glory and majesty and splendor of the Lord will be revealed,

And all humanity shall see it together;

For the mouth of the Lord has spoken it.”Isaiah 40:4-6 amp

We are nearing the end of our summer. We are getting back to school. As we move into the new season, we are revamping and removing our goals and plans! The last few weeks have been a complete overhaul in the Morales house. I have been in a serious case of nesting not unlike what I had experienced during those last few weeks of pregnancy with my three kids (no this is not a pregnancy announcement). I went into deep cleaning, decluttering and putting into practice my Marie Kondo “Tidying up” routine.

In the middle of all this, I had some really important decisions and tasks at hand but could not seem to even focus. I felt cluttered, foggy and quite frankly a little agitated. I asked Holy Spirit what is going on and why I felt this need to clean and offload when I have way more important things to tend to.

He began to speak to my heart about this last year. We have made it our single focus and goal to host God’s presence and do whatever was necessary to see Him move in and be at home —to have His way in us. We are seeing His Kingdom come in greater measure and have stepped into new territory. New seasons often require change, but His abiding presence and the promise of His leadership brings peace. In the kingdom, “He works all things for our Good”.

In cleaning out my house I realized how much we keep things around because they are familiar or once brought a sense of joy, but are now useless and taking up prime real estate. I began to examine my heart to see what needs to go in this season, not just around my house, but burdens I carried that are not beneficial for my season to come. These things might not be BAD just not useful. There are some gifts in our lives that we are meant to carry or steward in a season and now it’s time to pass on to someone else. There may also be treasures and revelation in your heart and now it’s time to share with others.

What does “making room” look like for you? It will be so different for each of us. Are you too busy? Do you need reconciliation or healing? Do you need to return to your first love? Is it time to step out and share what you have been given? I challenge you to lean in to Holy Spirit and ask what areas of your home and heart need to put in order so you can make room for more of what is to come.

Decluttering, rearranging or just prioritizing the areas of our lives that we are lending our time and energy to always helps us reassess our lives with fresh eyes. We are reprioritizing as preparation for making Room for Him and making us ready to really walk in our true identity. We are made to love the Lord with everything and to co-reign with Him, bringing Heaven to earth. I pray that your journey and process reveals your joy giver and leads you into greater levels of encouragement and clarity for this new season.
